Our Beef

Quality Highland Beef has a fantastically rich flavour and a deliciously dense texture. It’s also one of the healthiest meats you can buy with less than one third of the fat of normal supermarket beef, only 60% of the cholesterol levels and it’s even higher protein and iron.

Since the Highlander is naturally immune to many diseases and pests, Barlochan Highland Beef is guaranteed to be free of the chemicals and growth promoters that most concern today’s consumers.

While most beef cattle live for only two and a half years, Barlochan Highlanders live an idyllic life freely roaming for five years. This means their muscle structure is more mature, the joints are better and the steaks have more shape with less shrinking when they’re cooked.

The delicate marbling in the meat gives the beef a very special flavour and our beef is hung in the traditional way for three to four weeks to allow that flavour to develop and mature.
